• Shocking Service

  I was absolutely appalled by the shocking service I received at crown roast butchers in Hayes. I ordered an uncooked gammon, which was written on a piece of paper straight from a recipe book just before Christmas and the rather rude woman serving on the day wrote the order down wrong in the order book. Not being a meat expert I collected the meat which was packaged up, under the impression the order was correct. It was only when we opened the packaging to cook the 'gammon' that we realised we'd been given a cooked ham. We had to go to the super market in the end to but another joint of meat. We phoned the butchers and asked if we could take the ham back and either get a refund or take a credit note. The butcher reluctantly said we could take it back but we I went into the shop he'd, unbeknown to me, changed his mind and said he wouldn't take it back. His actual words were, "I couldn't give a f*** what you do with it, you ordered the wrong thing so it's you're tough s***"!!!!!!! It was in fact they that had ordered the wrong thing as we'd ordered exactly the same item the previous year without any problems. Needless to say I wasn't too impressed and I'll be buying our meat elsewhere in future. You try to do your bit and support your local businesses but when they treat you like this it leaves a real sour taste and it's not as if isn't anywhere else you can buy meat. Times have moved on and it's a real shame some of these places haven't. In the end, Crown Roast Butchers in Hayes will go out of business long before we run out of places to buy meat if this is the way they continue to treat their customers. In summary, I would never use this butchers again, I would never recommend them and to be honest I would people off using them after the way we were treated. Unfortunately I can't give them naught to I've had to give them a one.
